Tough Ties: Cable Ties for Extreme Conditions

When you’re dealing with extreme conditions, standard cable ties just won’t do. Whether your cable ties need to withstand freezing temperatures, chemicals, fire, underwater, or underground, we have a cable tie that’s fit for the job. Read below to find out which cable ties are best for your applications.

Tefzel® (Fluoropolymer) Cable Ties

Tefzel® cable ties are easy to identify by their distinct aqua blue color, and are made from highly resistant fluoropolymer. Tefzel® zip ties are perfect for applications that require resistance to radiation, ultraviolet light, corrosive chemicals, extreme temperatures, and moisture.

Outstanding Features:

  • Excellent chemical resistance (including concentrated hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids)
  • Low water absorbency
  • Can handle extreme temperatures from -50°F to 302°F!
  • Excellent UV Resistance
  • Gamma radiation resistance of 2x10 rads
Standard Regulations:
  • ASTM-D3275 TYPE II
Ideal for:
  • Nuclear power facilities
  • Chemical processing plants
  • Extreme weather conditions

Plenum (Air Handling) Cable Ties

You can easily spot plenum rated cable ties by their signature burgundy color. Similar to Tefzel® ties in many ways, plenum zip ties also offer excellent resistance to radiation, ultraviolet light, corrosive chemicals, extreme temperatures, and moisture. In addition to this, plenum rated ties do not release toxins or excessive smoke when burned. This characteristic makes them the standard for use in air handling spaces.

Outstanding Features:

  • Low smoke density when burned
  • Do not release toxins or excessive smoke when burned
  • Excellent chemical resistance (including concentrated hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids)
  • Low water absorbency
  • Can handle extreme temperatures from -50°F to 302°F!
  • Excellent UV Resistance
  • Gamma radiation resistance of 2x10 rads
Standard Regulations:
  • UL83
  • UL 62275
  • ASTM-D2633
  • ASTM-D3159 Type I
Ideal for:
  • Cable bundling in plenum or air handling spaces
  • Securing wiring systems in fire alarms
  • Aerospace applications

Stainless Steel Cable Ties

Even the harshest of conditions have nothing on stainless steel cable ties! Stainless steel cable ties are able to withstand salt water, corrosion, chemical attack, vibration, radiation, and extreme temperatures. Our stainless steel cable ties feature a unique roller ball locking mechanism that allows them to stay secure through any of these conditions. Stainless steel cable ties are able to handle much larger bundles than plastic cable ties due to their high tensile strength. ZipTape’s stainless steel cable ties also feature rounded edges, which protect insulation and wiring bundles.

Outstanding Features:

  • Saltwater resistant
  • Resistant to underground soil
  • Can handle extreme temperatures from -110°F to 1000°F!
  • Excellent chemical resistance
  • Excellent UV resistance
  • Excellent for highly corrosive environments
  • Rounded edges protect insulation and wiring bundles
  • Self-locking mechanism speeds installation
Standard Regulations:
  • DNV approved
  • ABS approved
  • UL RoHs approved
  • UL Listed approved
Ideal for:
  • Marine Environments
  • Offshore Oil Rigs
  • Ocean Vessels
  • Clean room Environments
  • Automobile
  • Plumbing
  • Aerospace
